Freelancer

Contract seats on a lab. Bring a specific skill to a specific team, for a specific stretch of work.

Six-person ventures move fast and don't always have every skill in the room. Freelance seats fill that gap — design, development, writing, production — without asking for a piece of the company in return.

Bring the skill. Keep the rate. They keep the company.

Contract seats on a lab

Hours available per week, not a tuition quote

Same no-equity rule as every other seat

Hours available per week to work on a project. We do not take equity.

What a contract seat actually looks like.

  • You work the brief, not a retainer. A six-person lab needs a specific skill for a specific stretch — a deck built, a prototype shipped, a shot list edited. You show up for the work that's actually in front of the team.
  • You keep your rate, they keep the company. Contract seats are agreed in writing before any work starts. Any payment depends on donor funds and is never guaranteed. CFL does not take equity from the team you work with, and neither do you.
  • You build a real portfolio. Work that ships to Game Day is work you can show the next client — real teams, real deadlines, real presentations, not a spec assignment.

Why freelancers fit this stadium

Real deadlines

Ten-week sprint cycles and a Game Day date on the calendar. The work has to be done, not eventually finished.

Founders who know what they need

Student and veteran-athlete teams come with a clear brief — a specific gap in the venture that your skill fills, not a vague ask for "help."

No equity, no strings

You're a contractor, not a co-founder. Credited for the work, done when the work is done, terms agreed in writing first.

Contract the work. Ship it by Game Day. Walk away with the portfolio piece.
